What is this calling to be a Titus 2 Woman?

So, I have had this blog up and running now for almost a year and I have been meaning to get to work on putting together a series on what exactly it means to be a Titus 2 woman. I want to be clear that this is not a to do list, it is not a checklist, it is not something to compare ourselves to. This is a calling to step outside of ourselves and serve.

titus 2 woman

Titus 2:3-5 says… Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Please recognize that a Titus 2 woman is one that has gone through enough of life to know sound doctrine, be disciplined and diligent in the caring of her home, know how to fervently love and respect her husband and children even in the midst of darkness and trials, and has spent enough time living to know what it means to truly be kind and reverent. (The idea of being ‘older’ can very easily translate into the amount of LIFE you have lived-not necessarily just your age!) Then this woman is ready to teach this godly way of living to the women in her circle of influence.
We are called by the Lord through the words of Titus, chapter 2 to lay the foundation for godly living, to lead by example, and to share what we have learned with younger generations. Again, this isn’t about checklists and standards…this is about living life! This is about learning from our mistakes, embracing the chaos and trials, walking through the hard times, bearing our soul for the sake of our spouses and children, and then being brave enough to step out in faith and share our story with those around us.

The Challenge…

I challenge you to take a few moments and print off the first 2 pages of a journal created just for you from this link Discovering your calling as a Titus 2 Woman (preview it below!) and contemplate where you are on your own Titus 2 journey. Jot down a few notes and then fill out the form below to follow my blog to continue on this walk with me as we discuss everything that is laid out for us in Titus 2:3-5 in my newest series The Calling of a Titus 2 Woman.

After you have completed the journaling for this section and signed up to follow the blog, watch for the next post in this series. Next we will be discussing how to embrace our past and how it creates an opportunity for us to be the “older” women to those around us, whether you are 19 or 99!

  1. Hmm, this is a good reminder. We focus so much on the Proverbs 31 woman but there’s so much more. Imagine how powerful we can be if we truly encourage and sharpen each other. We need to be reminded of this call daily.

    1. Absolutely! I love Proverbs 31, I truly do, but too often it is used as one more checklist or one more way to compare ourselves to other wives and moms. Titus 2 is all about using the life we’ve been through to help other women on their path.

    2. Although my faith has always been a part of my life, i just recently realized how much i didn’t understand about trusting God and his plan for me. These last 4 months have been very eye opening. If it weren’t for my faith in God, prayer, and reflection, im not sure where i would be. After 7 years, the love of my life walked out on me for no reason except for his own selfishness. I nearly lost my mind had it not been for Gods grace and my trust in him.

      1. Sometimes God moves in what we perceive to be very painful ways in order to bring His grace into our lives. I am so grateful that you have been open to His moving in your life!!

    1. So very true! Unfortunately I think there is a lot of misconception on what it means to be ‘older’. We all need a little encouragement to step out in Faith and share our stories and lessons right where we are!

  2. I am SO THANKFUL for the Titus 2 women in my life…I have a few. When I was completely lost as a young mom to two babies, God sent me one! When I was lost as I dove into homeschooling 5 kids, God sent me one! When I was lost being a godly wife, God sent me one! I don’t think a lot of Titus 2 women understand the depth of their role…the power of their influence. Embrace it because you never know who is watching. The Titus 2 women in my life probably have no idea that they are my Titus 2 women…I just watched them and I followed by their example they gave me through the way they lived their life. I hope any Titus 2 woman reading this comment realizes this…embrace your calling!

    1. Isn’t it amazing how God moves exactly when we need Him. And it is through those WILLING to live their life for Him that He moves! Thank God for those women in your life and I hope you are taking what you’ve learned and sharing it! Blessings to you!

  3. We all have a circle of influence. It is our responsibility to influence it well for God’s glory! Blessings to you as you encourage women to step into this God-given role with confidence!

I know you have a story...won't you share?!
