So, I have had this blog up and running now for almost a year and I have been meaning to get to work on putting together a series on what exactly it means to be a Titus 2 woman. I want to be clear that this is not a to do list, it is not a checklist, it is not something to compare ourselves to. This is a calling to step outside of ourselves and serve.
Titus 2:3-5 says… Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Please recognize that a Titus 2 woman is one that has gone through enough of life to know sound doctrine, be disciplined and diligent in the caring of her home, know how to fervently love and respect her husband and children even in the midst of darkness and trials, and has spent enough time living to know what it means to truly be kind and reverent. (The idea of being ‘older’ can very easily translate into the amount of LIFE you have lived-not necessarily just your age!) Then this woman is ready to teach this godly way of living to the women in her circle of influence.
We are called by the Lord through the words of Titus, chapter 2 to lay the foundation for godly living, to lead by example, and to share what we have learned with younger generations. Again, this isn’t about checklists and standards…this is about living life! This is about learning from our mistakes, embracing the chaos and trials, walking through the hard times, bearing our soul for the sake of our spouses and children, and then being brave enough to step out in faith and share our story with those around us.
I challenge you to take a few moments and print off the first 2 pages of a journal created just for you from this link Discovering your calling as a Titus 2 Woman (preview it below!) and contemplate where you are on your own Titus 2 journey. Jot down a few notes and then fill out the form below to follow my blog to continue on this walk with me as we discuss everything that is laid out for us in Titus 2:3-5 in my newest series The Calling of a Titus 2 Woman.
After you have completed the journaling for this section and signed up to follow the blog, watch for the next post in this series. Next we will be discussing how to embrace our past and how it creates an opportunity for us to be the “older” women to those around us, whether you are 19 or 99!
